week 4 – shelter in place

pink moon

only to the moon will i tell all my secrets. this week’s highlights in some pictures. there was pink super moon and because of the weather,i took this shot of the moon on 8th i think.

some of the excerpts from my kids photos. my kids finally stopped judging me silently for staying home 24 / 7 instead of going to work and toiling to bring home their roast chicken; my kids though eyed me suspiciously, soon realized the benefits of me being home, like they can get food every two minutes.

i have taught my baby girl skittles to play the ipad mouse game and she taught the other kids…. well there isn’t much to the game but you do have to whack the mouse and i taught her that and she immediately learned as she is immensely smart and i swear to god she actually understands human language more than a few words like the other pets. i am also convinced that despite the language barrier, if i send her to school, she will master the program within few months and graduate with honors. i am immensely proud of that kid.

my boy sonu (the black kitty) is the best son a mum could have. zz, the tiny moron, still does the “i want my mum” routine where he regularly forgets that i’m upstairs and cries his heart out, and as he can’t hear on account he is deaf, i have to go and bring him upstairs (and he sleeps like this with one hand on my body);

one day instead of getting up and run to the head of the stairs to let him know i’m home, i asked sonu, my lovely son, who is resting beside me, to go get him; i went, “sonu love, could you go bring him upstairs” and off sonu went and brought him upstairs which really surprised me to be honest. i thought this may be random thing but then again a couple of days later, mr. forgot-mum-is-home-so-i’ll-cry resumed crying, and i asked sonu again, and off sonu went to bring the boy upstairs. and this time around sonu wasn’t even in the same room and so i had to actually call him loudly. it made me tear up to be honest as sometimes i feel the emptiness of not having a human child (that is till i meet an actual human child and then i don’t regret not having any kids) as i think, my babies make it up thousand fold !

i continued to watch “walter presents” and for once, i found a tv show (icelandic) “the cliff” really worth watching and didn’t giggle at all like i always do. i also watched “the killing of the sacred deer” which made no fucking sense and i may also have thrown up a little in my mouth.  there is a new mystery featuring david tennant, my favorite doctor (doctor who) but it is in goddamn installments and i must wait every week.and oh, i purchased (from amazon) all the miyazaki (studio ghibli) movies as i never get tired of them and i enjoy watching them over and over. as also i enjoy reading adventures of tin tin (and i own the entire set of books) and asterix (again own the entire set), i sometimes wonder if i got stuck in my childhood and of course it doesn’t surprise me a bit on account of lost and traumatic childhood where it’s not so much of parental stress but mostly of society. that story for a non-quarantine times.

this weekend, we enjoyed my sunny, quiet backyard during this time of distance. reflecting on my own mind, which i have silenced with a constant business. as difficult as this all had been, i am looking to stay positive and focusing on healing. reopening my mind and challenging it without expectation.

i have spent such a long time standing in place, only moving forward when propelled and prompted. the past might continue to splinter me here and there, but i’m no longer young and naive to remain still and fractured in my little corner of the world. we wander around often blindly like our eyes still feel the sting from the voices who told us we were too much and yet not enough. our backs hunched and our hands covered with burned loves and still questioning how to stop the tremors. the young years have crippled us, left us mad and doubtful right in the margin between an old memory and a blooming possibility. you’re going to survive all of this, i urged quietly to my wrists, lips pressed against the scars. listen, i used to only know how to dissolve so quietly that no one else can feel it, but i think i’m learning how to compromise less and expand more.

14 avril, 2019 6:20 p.m.

every year i await the months for winter to end and spring to thaw and it always fills me with awe… spring arrives in april like a warm sludge down my throat with intense humidity but i welcome any warmth with a hunger for the hurt because it hurts to heal and i’m going to take the sun in both hand and heart.

april comes with the sounds of bees on the wind like a sound from the future. the sun glows brightly and says everything is just about a few minutes away and that we should stop waiting for something we already have… the frost melts, the ground softens as if it’s healing.

nature is so goddamn sneaky… one day the trees were bare and dead and the next day there were itsy bitsy buds with life and being the first to be part of something so large.  when i am on my the platform waiting for my train, i see all these trees majestically poised and silently waiting for the spring thaw and then i saw these little buds, which made me smile and now they are voluptuous with green gently and happily swaying in morning breeze. the ground is soft in the face of life. the soft petals drink up the mist as the daffodils cradle the sun. i quench myself as something cracked and aged, as dry as starlight, in the wet swoons of april.

i have been a fucking social butterfly this month… i have gone to my department’s dinner event as i’m pretentious bitch and the dinner was at a great restaurant in philly where the food is to die for. i usually avoid social scenes as they are mind numbingly boring but i’m kind of missing having a social life which involves night life. i seriously need to find like minded people who would like to go dancing and having dinners at pretentious restaurants and go dancing with me.

i also went to a sixers basket ball game because my boss couldn’t go and she asked me to and i was actually off that day because i had to go to traffic court (remember i got a goddamn ticket ! and while waiving of my inspection ticket, they got me on another technicality ie i didn’t change my address on the registration & license. bastards ! the judge preached me why i needed to notify, & boy did i learn a very expensive lesson as i had to pay $150). if i had to go to work, i wouldn’t have gone to the sports event unless i get off early to go home and feed my kids and then go to the event. the people who organized it had a nice little suite and i know this is more like networking and i have nothing in common with people who goes there, and i’m not a sixers fan but it is an opportunity to feel like a vip and also i wanted to have the experience of actually going to live game. after politely excusing myself, i have made myself comfortable by getting a good seat where i can scream at the players as i have this habit of totally getting immersed in sports and usually scream at my tv (or a tv in a restaurant). but people came by and started chatting with me much to my dismay and i tried to multi-task but well, it’s ok as my boys, the warriors, weren’t playing below on the court; at one point, the partners of the company who organized this came and sat with me and one of them is a patriots fan and the other eagles fan. so i was making fun of the eagles loss, and he goes, “at least my team’s owner wasn’t in headlines with a sex scandal and doing dishonorable things”. it’s a jab at kraft getting caught with a prostitute and i answered him “he is a old and a widower and he got a happy ending and while i don’t condone it, let it go”. for me tho, the most mind boggling question is, he is a very rich guy and there are bleach blonde women with no morals and who would not only give a handjob or a blowjob or do anything else to have a rich life style and they must be fawning all over him and why does he even needed to go to such a place. had conversation with a couple of foreigners (scottish and aussie) and i can never understand why americans are so uptight with foreigners and they are more conservative than europeans.

tim from work, started teasing me about liking the best sports teams (aka patriots, warriors) and so everytime he makes fun of me, i started to print out a tom brady photo and put it on his desk.

my breathing is going great but the recent humidity made me wheeze a bit. i accepted asthma as part of my life, and am going to do whatever is necessary to keep breathing and hopefully not let it affect me negatively. i’m slowly increasing my work out time, and i’m nowhere near the time i want to spend working out but i’m getting stronger… clean eating is honestly the best thing which came out of my asthma. i recently found some vegan cakes and cookies at whole foods which translates to me being a potato #sidelook

i’m eager to explore the trails near my house and i wanted to do it this weekend, but sunday kind of blurred into chores and also clouds were hanging down low, & my laziness set in before i knew it. i made myself some gardein crab cakes and stuffed them into some tortis along with plantains, lentils. i also found out that burger king is now offering plant based meat whopper and i can’t wait to go and get one !

in other news, i’m house hunting and started looking at various options. i’ve a particular house in mind and i haven’t so far found it, but i’m getting ready for the time when i actually find it. i’m unsure at this point if i would ever find a bloke to settle down with and i’m kind of tired of dating men who i know i’m never gonna fall in love with or men who are so goddamn young. i genuinely want to have a loving and lasting relationship, but currently my feelings and my brain are at an impasse. and this is for you ! you made an effort to talk to me (twice) which made me suspicious – our silences are beautiful anyway as my heart extends into yours respite from life’s worries, and drizzling wonder over sepia-tinted days to linger softly within these glittery moments, i wrote love letters to you in my mind and that’s where they stay, and i dangle tender thoughts etching whispered dreams, wishing you were mine. i’m here because of failures of my past. i can trace the scars when i run my fingers on my heart and i just wish that you don’t give me new ones.

lying down on my bed while dusk has set upon the lips of the sky and the music is playing in the background with a song that feels like it could last forever inside of this memory, i love songs that stop time. like this moment is more real than any previous frame that you will revisit. i am hypnotized by the way rhythm and lyrics spoken with a tone that makes it feel as though you’re floating through a garden in space and everything is ethereal and unreal, but with the slightest touch, you’re back home and as long as you have that moment inside of your heart, you know that everything will always be alright.

hello world ! april has arrived with aries moon and placid winter. not a lot happened since i blogged last time and also, a lot happened since i blogged last time. we had another snow blizzard the other day and this time we didn’t have a power outage but i was ready with all candles and stuff. it snowed a bit weirdly and i took off from work expecting worst but it snowed in a slow motion and by 9:30 in the a.m. that day, i was kind of wondering if i made the right decision of staying home, when it started snowing. it was fantastic to look at as it looked like as though god was printing snow on a 3d printer. it fell layer by layer, gently and softly and i was fascinated with it. i sat glued to my window and watched chugging coffee after coffee. i was like alice in winter wonderland and of course, complete with my 21 beautiful cheshire cats. the snow melted off quickly the next day.

slowly but surely books are becoming an important accessory for my outfits… instead of thinking about what blouse or top i should wear, i catch myself thinking what book should i bring with me on train as i have this habit of reading three or more books at the same time and yes, somedays i confuse myself but it’s fun this way… currently i’m reading book thief, vicious and if we were villains in case you were wondering…

i’m thinking of reading the book “the terror” by dan simmons as well as recently amc channel started airing a tv series and it may be classified under historical fiction, fantastic or horror, adventure but whatever it is shelved under, it should be a great read because it’s a story about madness, about men caught up in a mad, self absorbing, cycle of horror and fear. and the tv series is promising and i was looking at the ice logged ships and i almost got claustrophobic and mildly panicky… 😊

i stayed home since thursday as it was very slow at work and my time was better spent at home… i made plans for my garden and ordering bulbs and seeds and other essentials to transform my garden into an enchanted floral garden…. i am designing a mélange of french and english garden. and may be here, i should sing praises of doug, who runs errands for me and he is such a sweet heart and so innocent and always quotes me like insignificant amount for a project, i end up doubling his pay as he does amazing job. i referred him to jack as well and jack also ended up paying him more than doug quoted…. seriously, this kid does a fantastic job and i don’t like to under pay him or take advantage of his naïveté… any way, this garden project got me chuffed properly.

i love the smell of change in the air as the season is changing and i smell the earth and little buds of hungry green leaves are poking their itty bitty heads out… i felt sorry for the little ones as the weather seemed utterly batshit crazy and a month ago we had almost spring weather and all the little plants started hurriedly coming out when the weather turned cold and snubbed them back into the ground. and of course, weather will have to give in and make way for spring and i am eagerly waiting to bask in the magic of spring as everything becomes new and a new life begins.

friday morning there was so much fog and sandalwood and i hurriedly put our shoes on and ventured out in to the dark and mysterious labyrinthine mists of early morning fog at 5 in the morning to enjoy the bite of crisp air and we got soaked in the mists… we sat out having coffee and breakfast and it was amazing to have le petit dejuner a l’air frais and we had toast with mascarpone and i wished we had some fruit paste to go with mascaropone….

our relationship is slowly growing and we have now come to holding hands with no reason and at all times and sleeping in the same bed and spooning. i love falling asleep in his arms, molding my body into the concave hollow of his body and resting my head into the crook of his neck… he keeps whispering into my hair that he will protect me.

i think he is the purest person i know (well after my boys julien and jace). he is kind and honest and will do anything to make me feel loved because he can’t put his feelings into words. he plays his guitar and sings in silly voices and makes stupid impressions to make me laugh and i laugh so much…  i simply adore him.

the other day we were getting gas somewhere in a remotest part and there was this turtles song “happy together” came on and we started mildly dancing to it and we kissed, not passionately but rather like a hello and let our lips converse a bit.

on the domestic front, i’ve taken up making vegetable pottage as i realized that i am not eating all the veggies i should be eating and made a potful last weekend and will again this sunday. i almost killed sandalwood though as i forgot white people can’t eat hot stuff. and to be honest, i don’t eat that much of heat as my fellow indians do, because i went off that a long time ago as my lovers were not spice eaters and most indians keep telling me that india should divorce me as i don’t eat spicy stuff anymore. i also packed lunch of the same (having made a lot, i ate for days) and kept offering to people at my work forgetting the spicy nature of my pottage and thus probably would have made them ill; anyway, he couldn’t handle any spice at all so i hurriedly boiled him a potato… i kid you not !

i probably will teach him slowly to eat things of spicy nature. i started to cook again and i am happy. i am planning to slowly convert him to be vegetarian, but for now i am pampering him with gourmet food and this morning i made a rich breakfast of omelette with chicken livers and mushroom stuffing.

i started volunteering at an animal shelter and some days i go there before i go to work. my lungs feel ok for now and i recently started drenching myself in perfume to get my body used to allergens and chemicals as if to reteach my body to stop reacting. don’t know if that would work but i have to take a chance. as the weather is changing, more allergens are in the air and some days i feel as though i can drown inside my head because of the fluid.

i feel so loved these days and i am exhausted just because of this affection. my kids are healthy and enjoying the weather and i am super blissful. sandalwood and i take walks and hikes and we are planning to attend the cherry blossom festivals in april both in washington dc and in new york.

people make an effort, you know, to let me know that i’m loved…

like when my boss said to me “come here and teach me how to be nice” as she was about to talk to someone she can’t stand….. made me smile so much !

like when this coop girl who left recently and with who i bonded, secretly texted me saying we have to take a photo as we didn’t and that she would want to have a photo with me to remember the good times we shared…

like when sandalwood texts me and says he misses me five minutes after he said goodbye…

like when i walk in to my home, my kids come running to me and hug me with a biggest smile.. (i’m sure cats smile)

i know this may seem normal to some of you, but i’ve been so parched for affection for a long time and this feels like a healing rain. i feel somedays that my mind has mountains… you know, the tall unsurpassable ones with jagged cliffs and of course, i do have obstacles and things which i need to sort out. and you know what ? things start looking differently because of a small change in your life. it could be just a small event, but that causes your perspective to change. and just like that, i started looking at things differently and i’m less fearful and less anxious and became stronger. isn’t it just amazing ? and all of a sudden i wanted to live and not just exist and i love my life and it’s just so wonderful… to be alive in moments like this.

i love sharing many stories and singing along to trashy music and warmth of the car heater in comparison to chill of the winter air against my skin and the click of my heels on the pavement and hugging old friends and catching up with boy and making far too many blowjob jokes and about me being on my knees and sharing my dinner with a lovely boy i barely know and falling into people and feeling eyes on me as i swayed to the music.

i sit with my friends and sometimes strangers and i share stories and what makes them smile and what makes them tick… and  i am consistently thankful that i have these opportunities where i meet strangers from across the country, share some stories over tea and remember how many beautiful people carry sparks of passion with them & reignite ancient memories wherever they go.

my eyes shimmer with memories and tears and nostalgia… ancient hearts and tricks up my sleeves… i’m bursting !
